im·por·tant = 1. of much or great significance or consequence

The most fitting word I can find is "important."

The Kite Runner is one of the most important books I have ever read. I finished it on Tuesday night and something is different. It shattered an unbecoming film of ignorance that had been a part of me for nearly twenty-five years. And at its end, I found myself a mixture of ashamed, moved, determined, relieved, disturbed, inspired, and afraid. I'm in mourning but it's not entirely bitter. This book- I related to it and yet couldn't imagine parts of it. And I can't shake the sense of shame and the feeling that I just woke up in a some unknown place that looks exactly like my bedroom, but everything is all different now.

I won't tell you that you will love it. I won't tell you that you are guaranteed some incredible experience if you read it. I can't know that. That's really entirely up to you. Yet, my heart urges that you read it, my friends. Please, read this book. It's so desperately important.

YAY! I looked for Kite Runner on Wednesday and they were out of stock. Today I shall hit up Borders on my way in to church. :) Have you read A Thousand Splendid Suns? That's the Kite Runner author's second book. I think I'll pick them both up...thanks so much for the recommendation!
