I'll take a berry-picking Saturday any day. To make time
for the simple wonders is so good for soul-keeping.

I would like to stop right in the middle of things and walk out the door with my bag and my smile and an umbrella. I would like to whisk-away like they do in favorite books and films... away to wherever is not here, wherever is new and bright, whever is without agendas and to do lists.  I would like to walk until eventide and remember the loveliness of a motion of my own doing.  I would like to study the patterns raindrops make on the pavement, on my windshield, on my boots.  I would like to eat a bowl filled with curly-cued pasta and become a part of the couch for a few days.  I would like to fall asleep and dream about dreams that I want to pursue instead of responsibilities that want to pursue me.  I would like to fill the lines in my journal- the journal that sits on my bedside table wondering how I will ever recover stories of all the happenings in the last several months.  But mostly, I would like to marry Jason and begin to build a home around good things and true spirit and hope.

daydream three

To float on feathers, sink through glassy pearling droplets, fade beneath flowing see-through curtains where everything would exist for sensing and noticing.  And surroundings would become something other than surroundings.  They would breach the divide and interrupt us as we sit, staring at the wall.  Just for introducing brilliance and shuddered windows that open to something deeper than dank, dusty corners.  Deeper in an all-encompassing serenade of poetic lines and scenery.  And we will be left in lace-lit patterns and vases filled with happy tears for remembering why we live here anyway.

daydream two

i would like to go on a trip to a quiet place and take with me a sketchbook, a story, a journal, a camera (or three), a blanket, and a pillow.  i would like to walk barefoot in sand that would not stick to my feet forever.  i would like it to be a cool day, but without breese so that my hair would not tangle.  i would like to slip away on a raft and mosey along with a song in my head (and i would know all the words) and i would not get sunburned.  i would love to find a piano in the middle of a glen filled with greengreen grass and surrounded by tall-reaching birch trees whose tops encircle and form a frame around the sky.  and i would like to sit there and play for hours, finding a new song with my fingertips and be glad for music and notes.  and letting it fill me up again and make me feel whole and beautiful and free.  and maybe my heartbeat would the the rhythm that each note falls into so that it would be a part of me, even more.  i would like to shout and have no one hear me, just because.  i would like to make a humble wish on a star or eyelash or penny in a wishing well and have it come true.  something small, but bright and right.  i would like to jump in a kayak and race to the end of a creek to see whose arms were strongest and laugh at the end, no matter what.  i would like to close my eyes.  close my eyes and fall asleep and wake refreshed again.

daydream

I want to dress in colors and textures and patterns and look like the sort of girl I think I am sometimes. I want to walk into unique coffee shops and belong there. I want to blend into my environment as if I were part of what makes it so rather than as a visitor from outside. I want to have freckles in the right places and have a sing-song voice that draws people in comfort and curiosity. I want to sit in big-armed chairs with boots and a novel and have people wonder and ask, "who is she?" I want my camera to be an expected presence that goes where I go. I want to be able to sing to myself in a public place and not worry. I want to be simply full of breath and music notes. I want to wear scarves and be romantic and subtly beautiful in a hilter-skilter way. I want to remember how to pretend and yet be me at the same time. I want to be okay with being accompanied and with being alone and be comfortable visiting kindreds without the necessity of words. I want to be content to absorb things without the need to grapple at details. I want to eat things that are beautiful and fully taste them with my soul and not just my tongue. I want to wear a dress everyday and walk barefoot and have hair that blows in the breeze at the right moments. I want to explore and travel with a pen and notebook and camera and me. I want to wear pigtails to work and that be okay. I want to feel apart from the world for brief intermissions and fully friends with it at others. I want to go on holiday and be truly on holiday.
